Reinventing Yourself in Switzerland

Moving to a new country can be daunting in many ways. Our next event will focus on entrepreneurs Carla, Maria and Georgina who took on this huge challenge by completely reinventing themselves.

carla-webCarla Rippstein

founded Paper & Party Love to make parties a little more special with personalized party printables and supplies. She loves designing new printable party themes and helping people with ideas to make their parties unique. Carla graduated with a communications degree and worked as a web designer in Silicon Valley for several years.

When she and her family moved to Switzerland in 2006, she stopped working as a designer to focus on her family. In 2011, Carla discovered the world of party printables and was inspired to put her love of making things pretty to good use. She started Paper & Party Love in 2012 selling printables on Etsy.

Her business has expanded to include an online shop in Switzerland selling party supplies and personalized party decorations to match the printables that she designs.

Maria-webMaria Gorski

After many years working as a physiotherapist, Maria recently changed direction to follow her dream of Garden Design. Originally from Colorado, USA, Maria and her family landed in Switzerland in 2011 after three years in Australia.

She soon discovered that fostering a garden in an apartment presents some interesting challenges, and it wasn’t long before she realised she was more than equipped to tackle those challenges. Maria started Unique Container Gardens in 2013 after studying Home Horticulture and Plant Disease Diagnosis though Oregon State University distance education.

She currently focuses on small-space gardening – from a small plot of land to a few containers on a balcony – and is working on a project that teaches people to garden using upcycled materials.
